Emerging from endless giggly conversations, bartered experiences and the hopeful hearts of a mother and her two daughters, ‘Pehchaan by S’ is a jewellery-brand based out of Gurgaon, India. Our brand has been founded on the firm belief of “forging one’s own identity”. 

With cultural representation at its core, our demi-fine jewellery celebrates generations of women coming together. Our core beliefs focus on storytelling, artistry and the importance of making a statement. Together, we seek to create inclusive pieces that transcend barriers, empower individual styles and complement every aesthetic sensibility.

At Pehchaan, our individual philosophies have merged into a common goal – to weld traditional Indian artistry with striking, modern design. 

Jewellery is often looked at as an embellishment, ‘the final touch’. We believe that this touch has the power and versatility to elevate the ordinary, to transform, or perhaps become a seamless extension to your proud individuality. 

For us, community takes centre stage. As a brand, we wish that the wearers of our jewellery embrace their uniqueness and experience the luxury of meaningful design. Because the memory of a well-worn piece lasts a lifetime. 

We like to think of our jewellery as “affordable art.” Each piece is meticulously translated from paper to metal by skilled artisans, who have years of ancient wisdom folded into their gentle touch. Our design-inspiration is rooted in the timeless magic of nature’s elements, her interconnectedness with feminine delicacy and unique textures that exist all around us.

  • Mamta Kaith

    Designer by education and homemaker for the past 26 years, Mamta is the beating heart of Pehchaan. Over the years, she has worn countless hats – basket designer, candle maker, fashion curator, masterchef and superwoman. Intuitive and a scary perfectionist, Mamta has always had a natural instinct for all things creative. Pehchaan is her second innings, her ‘new baby’ that she hopes to nurture with her innate warmth, infectious energy and penchant for overthinking. 

  • Navika Kaith

    With degrees in literature and communications, Navika is a writer-filmmaker by profession and the resident storyteller at Pehchaan. An aesthetics-nazi, her entire life could be encapsulated in notebooks, sticky-notes and colour-coded planners. When she’s not thinking plots, characters and visual boards, she’s doodling and daydreaming about design-inspiration. Pehchaan is her years of love for distinctive jewellery and experimental fashion, channeled into a deeply personal endeavour led by her dream-team.

  • Sara Kaith

    An almost-college graduate, content expert and the mysterious ‘S’ in Pehchaan’s logo, Sara brings unabashed GenZ "rizz" to the brand. A trained dancer, born-poser and effortlessly witty, she’s everyone’s favourite person, until she runs out of social battery and needs to be bribed with chocolate. With her sharp eye for design and unfiltered critique, Sara is a sometimes-marketing genius and always-jewellery enthusiast. While she’s always joked that she was meant to be a business owner, Pehchaan is that dream finally turning into reality.

THE BEGINNING

Our story began with an almost whimsical conversation between mother and daughters. 

One night, Mamta – our traditionally diamond and gold-wearing mother – borrowed a gold-plated statement piece from us to wear at a party. It was different from her usual style – bolder, brighter and something you didn’t need generational wealth to buy! 

Our mother glittered in that gold all night, and a magical transformation occurred. She found a different part of herself in that gold-plated, statement hoop and that night of new-found confidence and complements led to an idea peeking through. Soon, she was sharing her experience with us, her daughters, who had similar stories of embracing their individuality and womanhood, through pieces of jewellery. 

While we all have different styles of self-expression and perceptions of individuality, the many hours of banter and conversation aligned to light the spark for Pehchaan. It led to our inner nerds voraciously searching for design-inspiration, sourcing trips through the gullies of Jaipur, and multiple sessions to create the perfect pieces.
